I am so excited! I was recently notified that one of my projects has made it to the final round of the MacArthur Foundation’s Digital Medial & Learning Competition.

I remember when I used to hate programming. I mean, getting a ‘some character’ to display on the screen after some massive algorithm and long drawn out calculation was not the most exciting. I must admit, however, that was how programming was several years ago. Remember COBOL, Fortran, and Pascal? Yup, I guess I’m dating myself. I actually remember when Java first released. No one knew it, so no one could teach it, and no one really knew it well enough to even judge if it was being taught properly or not. You can imagine the frustration of taking it as a class then. Of course, the backlash was…well, that I hated it.
Well, programming has come full circle for me…
With great excitement and appreciation, I have been playing with my Android Dev Phone for the past several hours. It arrived today and I must say I am excited about the learning curve that came with it. lol
Special thanks to Hilary, Raquel, Meghan, and Prasenjit @ Google for finding a device for me.
I’m so excited. As a result of my visit to Googleplex, I’m getting an Android device to explore. I’m potentially using the Android Stack & SDK for a project (more details of which are coming soon). So, along with iPhone development, I’m working on Java and creating apps for the Android as well.
